I had a prenatal appointment this afternoon and it went very smoothly. I saw a nurse midwife named Tiffany who I really liked. She was very nice and patient and really took time to answer all of my questions.
I got to hear the baby's heartbeat using a heartbeat monitor that kind of looks like a child's microphone hooked up to a speaker. It took her a long time to find the heartbeat. I kept hearing something that sounded like a heart beating but she later told me that was MY heartbeat. The baby's is about twice as fast as mine so when she did finally find it, it was unmistakable. She counted it at about 160 beats a minute which is a perfectly normal range to be in.
I've gained seven pounds according to the doctor's scale which is also perfectly normal...not too little and not too much.
And best of all, I made my appointment for my next ultrasound which will be 5 weeks from today when we get to find out the sex of Baby O! I am so excited for that day; I hope it comes really soon. April 17, I've got you circled!

Yay for April 17th! And the weight gain is really a weird thing. I looked at my past visit information -- I had only gained 3 pounds at 13 weeks and then at my next appt. at 18 weeks, I'd gained 9 pounds in 5 weeks! And of course now the weight gain has really taken off...
ReplyDeleteYou know the old wives' tale that a fast heartbeat (over 140) is a girl...of course, it was true in my case. I'd bet it's true about 50% of the time. :)
