Cross It Off The List!

Keith finished up his basement room project this weekend that he's been working on since January, on and off. It involved ripping up the carpet, laying new laminate flooring, building shelves and a bookcase, painting, and installing the shelves and finishing touches like new shoe moulding. After all that was done, it was my turn to organize the stuff that we'd had just sitting in that room as well as make room for future toys and books. That was the fun part! Take a look:

This is what the room looked like before the renovation. It's painted like the OSU Buckeye football helmet (not our cup of tea). We had piles of boxes lining the room filled with stuff that didn't really have a good place.

Keith built these shelves and anchored them to the wall. Most of those bins are empty, waiting to be filled with toys or other stuff.

He built this wonderful bookcase and now I have a spot to put out all of my old Baby-Sitters Club books, Bearenstein Bears books and other childhood favorites waiting to be read to Baby O!

The room is much brighter with the new paint color and floors. The corner off to the right and that whole wall is empty and can be used to store bigger toys. Yea! Now it's time to start on the nursery...stay tuned!

  1. How fabulous! Tell Keith he did a fabulous job. I'm going to have Eric take a look at those projects. I want him to make me a fancy looking bookshelf.

  2. This looks great! I am more impressed, however, by your large collection of Babysitter Club books. I used to have a lot, but I think my mom donated them. Wish we had an extra "fun" space like a basement...someday, maybe.

  3. So in response to your comment, we got the glider at Babies R Us. It came back in stock, except for the ottoman, and it's really great because it reclines AND glides! :) And yes, the cats love it.

  4. The room looks great! Can't wait to see it "live". Your hard work, and Keith's, really paid off.
