Baby Bonanza

We made our first official purchase for Baby O this weekend. Baby O's Grandmas, Aunties and Uncles have already made several purchases for her but this was technically our first. I had a 20% off coupon at Babies-R-Us that expired on Sunday so we went and picked out a glider for the nursery. There were many to choose from but this one was the most comfortable that I sat in and included a gliding ottomon as well. I can't wait to get it and try it out! Also, it was fun to wander around Babies-R-Us and look at everything without the pressure of registering. I think it will definitely make us better prepared for when we do register. Nothing like a Friday night at a baby superstore! Here's the glider that we ordered:

We actually made a few other purchases this weekend too. They had a "Baby Bonanza" sale at our Rec Center on Saturday. About 13 vendors came and sold their used baby items. It was from 6-8 PM and Keith and I showed up right about 6 o'clock. Good thing we did because there was a line about 50 people deep waiting for the doors to open! Lots of pregnant bellies and small children in that line! By far it was mostly clothing for sale (including some maternity clothing) and since we don't know what we're having yet we didn't even bother looking at clothes. We did score a few great deals though. I got a set of blue and green coordinating bedding (bumper, crib skirt and three bottom sheets) for $7. We got a "Snap-and-Go" stroller which can accomodate a variety of different brands of carseats for $10 and Keith's favorite purchase is a backpack to put a child in with a carrying case for $6. This is the type of backpack that you would use on a long walk or a hike...REI sells them for about $80 and the cheapest one at Babies-R-Us was $100. What a deal! We will be returning for the next baby sale there in April!

  1. AHH! Awesome. I am jealous of your $10 Snap-and-Go. That's what we have registered for (not $10 at BRU, I think it's $60) and I saw a lot of people with them when I was walking around Balboa Park in SD on Sunday. It's great because it's super light weight. We did order our glider and it should be getting here tomorrow! Hurray! Ours looks very similar...but with a different finish. We're also going to check out some used baby stores soon...we feel too much like big-time consumers and most baby stuff is generally in good shape.
