Daycare Decision

I thought I should give an update on the daycare situation since I devoted a couple of earlier blog posts to the subject of our search.

After touring 7 local daycares and interviewing the in-home babysitter that my sister has used for my nephews since they were born, we finally reached a decision. We are going to take Baby O to Miss Jane (Miss Jane being my nephews' sitter)! She came with extremely high recommendations from my sister and brother-in-law. And during our interview we spent over an hour at her house going through her policy book and just talking and touring her home. One of the overwhelming themes that came across to me was that she is willing to do anything that she can to help out the families that are her clients. Her son Nick was there during our interview and he was definitely a testament to her parenting...he is a really neat kid. And she costs half as much as any of the daycares that we visited! So all of those things coupled with the fact that I just get a much better feeling picturing myself dropping Baby O off with Miss Jane that first morning back to work versus a daycare led us to make that choice. Of course, the major con is that our 10 minute commute is going to turn into about 35 minutes but luckily we'll take turns dropping off and picking up so each of us will only have to make that journey once a day.

But I'm very happy to have that decision made and my spot at Miss Jane's secured (and no non-refundable deposit required)!

This Friday she hosted a jewelry party and I got the chance to meet some of the other Moms and children who go to Miss Jane. They all told me how happy we will be with her and how some of them drive much further than we will have to. It really solidified our choice for me...that and seeing how good Miss Jane was with their babies at the party!
