Twelve Month Twins

Julia and Caroline are one!  Their first year truly flew by.  Something about having a three-year-old to keep you busy really makes that first year go by in a blink.

I really do think they get sweeter and cuter by the day if that is possible.  Julia is definitely changing in her appearance lately.  She is taking on more of a toddler look and less of a baby face.  Caroline still has her little baby face.  People ask us about their personality differences and it used to be very easy to describe.  Julia was the serious one and Caroline was the extroverted one who loved to laugh and ham it up.  But now it is almost becoming the opposite.  Julia is very easy to laugh and has become a lot more outgoing.  Caroline has taken on some stranger anxiety and tugs at her shirt or does what we call the "chicken wing" when she is nervous or around new people.  The "chicken wing" is when she takes her right arm and kind of flaps it by her side.  They both make these wrinkle nose faces on command (although their interpretations of "wrinkle nose" are different).  Julia does hers before we can get the whole command out and then laughs.  She also does this funny thing where she drums her little fingers on her lips when we ask to make a bbbb-bbbb-bbbb sound and then we all crack up.  She still hasn't clapped yet though and Caroline is a good clapper.  So now we're not sure about their personalities anymore!

One thing they have started doing this month is giving kisses on command which I just love.  They both do open mouth and often slobbery kisses which is pretty funny.  And they are more snuggly than Colin ever was (especially Julia).  They like to crawl into your lap and often fight over the lap space.  I love the snuggling.  They are on their last container of formula which is taking forever to use up because we're just doing one formula bottle a day.  They're getting better with their sippy cups.  We have had the most luck with the ones with straws.

No walking yet but we think its coming fairly soon.  We've seen Julia standing on her own a few times.  And they are experts with any kind of walking toy (or they will just use anything that happens to be around as a walker).  One of the favorite activities lately is for all 3 kids to go around the circle on our first floor with a walking toy and go through the "tunnel" that Keith or I (or both) will make with our legs.  They all get going really fast and shriek.  Keith and I get nervous when Colin comes barreling at us and yell at him to remember to duck!

And everyone is finally healthy (knock on wood) and we're just so thrilled that summer is here!  We're going to work on a summer bucket list.

And now for some 12 month stats:

Julia: 20 lbs, 11 oz (25-50%), 28.5 inches (25%)
Caroline: 19 lbs, 14 oz (25-50%), 29.5 inches (50-75%)
Hi!  I'm Julia and I'm one!

Hi!  I'm Caroline and I have a pretty rainbow dress!
