Colin is Two and a Half!

Colin turned two and a half on Wednesday. Wow, that was fast! He had his 30 month check-up on Tuesday and he was very excited about it. He couldn't wait to go and kept asking "Where is Dr. Jeff?" when we were waiting in the exam room. The nurse told him, "Colin we are going to measure your head now." And he said, "My head is bigger than my footsies!" Keith and I were cracking up!

He loved showing off for Dr. Jeff when he asked him to walk forwards, backwards, jump, and stand on one foot. Dr. Jeff also asked him to jump on one foot but he wasn't quite coordinated to do that yet! He had a great check-up and a clean bill of health. At two and a half Colin is:

Weight: 31 pounds (50-75th percentile)

Height: 39.5 inches (off the charts)

They still use this mat thing to measure his height that they lay down on the exam table. He was longer than the mat (which the nurse says they usually use until age 3) so she had to pull out an additional measuring tape!

At two and a half it seems like there is really nothing that Colin can't say or do (besides use the potty!). He is very perceptive and talkative. He is extremely outgoing and doesn't seem to have an ounce of shyness. He loves to talks to strangers and tells everyone about his Thomas birthday cake (which was six months ago!) He still LOVES Thomas and anything related to the Cars movies.

His headboard arrived this week and his Thomas sheets are coming today. I think he is fairly excited about his bed (the idea of Thomas sheets definitely helps) so we'll make that transition here very soon. Fingers crossed! After that is over and done with, I think we'll make some more attempts at potty training. He has some Thomas and Cars underwear that he is very excited about so maybe we'll just do a training weekend where we just put him in underwear and see what happens! Here are some recent pics of our big boy:

  1. What a cutie! He seems like such an awfully sweet boy. I'm sure he's going to be a great big brother.

I've heard of people having their kids go bottomless for three days so they(you) get a better sense of when they have to go potty. It's supposed to work. I might try that method later. Good luck with the training!

  2. Ryan has that same football sweatshirt! :) We did a full potty training weekend and it worked out great! Lindsey was also excited about Thomas underwear (yes... all of her first pairs were boys underwear!) and she spent the weekend in just underwear and a shirt. I'd be happy to tell you all about it if you need a plan!
