She did an awesome job with everything. She played off of the psychic that predicted that I was going to have a boy and then twin girls and made it a phychic-themed shower. She hired a psychic that gave each person a 10-15 minute reading. There were pink fortune cookies with personalized fortunes inside. She had Chinese zodiac charts at each place setting and the games we played were all about using your own psychic powers. She served lunch to all the guests (it was small - only about 10 or 11 women were there) and had a delicious cake. I got so many nice things (tons of matching adorable clothes for the girls) and I had a REALLY nice time. It was very relaxed and fun with the small group. And different people had such different reactions with the psychic. Some people thought she was spot on and others thought she was way off. It was interesting!
At a twin shower you get two of everything!
I got lots of hand-made things like these blankets and crocheted hats.
So in other twin news, I am 31 weeks now and I've gained 29 lbs which is what I gained in total when I was pregnant with Colin. As of last week my cervix is still 4 cm which is very, very good apparently. A shortened cervix would most likely mean bedrest for me so that is great news. The babies' fluid levels continue to be disparate but still not in the dangerous range and there are no other signs of anything being amiss. The babies were estimated to weigh 3 lbs 9 oz and 3 lbs 11 oz last week which is right on track (greater than the 50th singleton percentile for both). Next week I start twice weekly non-stress tests at the hospital. These tests measure the babies' movements and heart rates in response to movements for about about 30 minutes. The goal is to ensure that the babies are getting enough oxygen. I have 3 doctor's appointments next week alone and it will likely to continue at that rate until the babies are born!
We have a list of "to-do before babies come"on the fridge and have been attacking it with a vengeance. My biggest thing lately has been washing and organizing baby clothes. In between everything I got from the shower, clothes lent to me from my sister-in-law, and clothes I have from Colin that aren't too boyish, I had tons to wash and organize in the dresser and in the closet. I have never cut so many tags off of things in all my life! I am still working on decorating too.
So that's where we are at 31 weeks. I'm thinking I probably have about 6 more weeks to go but we hope to learn more about the delivery plan in the next couple of weeks.
You've only gained 29 pounds with twins! I'd already gained more with Phoebe. Anyway, I think you look fantastic, and how nice to have a baby shower for your girls!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe how many doctor appointments you have! Hopefully, you have a lot of reading material while you're doing those NSTs. :)
What a cute shower theme! Very creative!
ReplyDeleteDid you have to have an NST with Colin? I had one after passing the 40th week with Lew, and it was awesome--they had a Lazyboy, a TV, magazines...it was glorious! With 2x/week plus doctor's appointments, the luxury of it could get old, I guess. :) We'll be thinking of you guys in the home stretch!
