Christmases, #2 and #3

We're pretty much all Christmased out here in Ohio. It's been a really fun season and I feel like we've enjoyed it to the fullest. My first day off of work was the 23rd; Keith's was the 22nd. So we've had a nice, long and mostly restful break. We had a successful trip to Chicago. We left first thing on the 23rd and went straight to Keith's Uncle Joe's house to visit. We ate pizza and opened gifts. It was great to see Uncle Joe and Aunt Terry again. They've only met Colin once before and couldn't believe how much he'd changed in the past 8 months.

Christmas Eve was spent at Heather, Todd, and Olivia's house. We hadn't yet seen Olivia's nursery so it was neat to see how their home has changed since baby made three. We had a very laid back day there...eating snacks and cookies, dining on the traditional Okrzesik Christmas Eve dinner of clam chowder, pierogies, and smoked chubs, doing a "favorite things" gift exchange among the adults while the babies napped, and then ending the day with the kids' gifts. Colin got some awesome accessories for his play kitchen among other neat stuff.

Merry Christmas!

On Christmas day we went to Jeff and Erica's in Naperville and had a totally relaxing day. We ate more yummy food and just hung out and played with Colin. We watched Christmas with the Kranks and Elf and enjoyed some low-key time together. On Sunday we headed home.

Monday through Wednesday were lazy and wonderful. We did a few minor projects around the house that we'd been meaning to get to (baby-proofed some cabinets, Keith hung a shelf and organized a closet, touched up paint, rearranged Colin's room, etc). I went to Target with my sister and we got great deals on Christmas stuff. We baked Christmas cookies for Mason Christmas and went to see a Christmas light show (the kind that you just drive through and don't have to get out of your car) with my sister and her family all piled into our van. And Colin gave us the greatest Christmas gift of all. He slept until 8 AM every day last week. We actually had to get him up a few days at 8 to try to keep him close to his normal schedule (he usually gets up about 7 or 7:30). So we were staying up late and sleeping in (for us). On Thursday my parents arrived. Friday was our cookie-baking day and we made some other food for Mason Christmas too. It was 60 on Friday!! We took a long walk and enjoyed the unseasonably warm weather. Then we went out to a nice New Year's Eve dinner with my brother and his fiance while my parents stayed home with Colin. So nice!

Saturday was Mason Christmas and we all gathered at my sister's house. We ate more great food, exchanged more great gifts and lounged around playing games. Colin got a bike already! My sister found a cool Tonka bike with training wheels at her friend's yard sale and it was completely unused. She couldn't resist and got it for Colin even though he won't be riding it for a few years. He liked sitting on the seat and trying to push it around. She also gave him Jack and Eli's old Radio Flyer mini bike for him to use now. Sunday morning we had everyone over to our house for breakfast before they headed home.

It was a long, restful, fun, and festive holiday season for us. It was so fun to see Colin's reactions to opening gifts this year. He loved ripping paper, ooohing and aaahing, and playing with his favorite toys. And now it's on to 2011! Happy New Year everyone!
