We had our one week newborn check-up this morning. It was our first outing together as a family! Colin was wonderful...he slept at the beginning and then had a "quiet alert" period at the end. No screaming or fussing even throughout his exam. His birth weight was 8 lbs 11 oz and he's at 8 lbs 6.4 oz now. So he's gaining but not back up to his birth weight yet. Dr. Jeff said that was pretty normal for babies who are larger at birth. He wants to see us in a week though to weigh him again. His length (20.5 inches) and weight are in the 75th percentile and his head circumference was in the 25th-50th percentile. His circumcision is healing up well and his skin color was really good. Dr. Jeff said the whites of his eyes were slightly yellow but not enough to be a cause for concern especially since his skin is such a good color (concern for jaundice, that is). I think that was about it. All in all a very positive and successful appointment. We even stopped for some carryout breakfast on our way home at Tim Horton's.
Colin in his seat after his first walk. Keith wanted to put his Buckeye hat on him for the neighbors!

Sweet little boy
Gotta love that Snap N Go stroller! Seriously. Best.invention.ever! I've walked miles and miles with Charlotte in that thing. Love the Buckeye beanie; alas, USC beat them over the weekend (I hate USC).
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you made it through your first week relatively unscathed. It was so hard for us too -- such a huge adjustment and you're recovering from giving birth at the same time! Seems cruel, really, but I know you're strong.
Colin is so cute.
