Colin wanted a Lego birthday party theme this year. He is really into Legos. Grandma gave Keith his old Legos to take home in March of 2012 and a few months after that Keith and Colin started building Legos together. The rest is history! I got started planning the party early (looking on Pinterest for ideas is inspiring but also a bit stressing...I can only really take it on if I start nice and early). Luckily Keith and Colin did most of the execution of party preparation! They are amazing. The party was held at a shelter at a park on the Scioto River not too far from our house. We invited a few neighborhood friends and family. It was a nice sunny, warm day.

Keith and Colin making Lego crayons (the party favors)

 |
| I bought a Lego mold on Amazon. They took old crayons and put them in the crock pot for about an hour until they melted. |

Besides favors, the guys helped pull off several games for the party. They made a Lego pinata out of a shoe box. They wrapped it first with blue wrapping paper. Then they cut down blue Silo cups for the Lego "nubbins" and glued them to the box. Next they wrapped the whole thing with crepe paper cut in a shag to look like a traditional pinata. Keith put trap doors in the shoe box to ensure it would actually break open. It turned out really great.

We made a "Pin the Hat on the Lego Man" game. Keith printed off a Lego man on multiple sheets of paper and taped it to a piece of construction paper. He then mounted that to a piece of plywood so it would have a strong back. I printed off paper hats and glued them to card stock for pinning. We also gave the kids bags of Colin's Legos to use to make Lego cars. Pop Pop made a ramp for them to race their cars down when they were done.

No Lego party would be complete without a Lego cake (or cakes in this case). Although these took more time than it was worth really! The cakes are made from two 9 x 13 yellow cakes cut into shapes and stacked. The nubbins are marshmallows! Thank you Meme for helping me frost them!

I think the party was a big success. I know I was definitely exhausted after it! We served pizza and fruit and veggies and the kids enjoyed playing on the playground and checking out the banks of the river nearby. Eli and Colin even ventured in a little bit.
We got Colin a new bike for his birthday so now he's riding a bike with 16 inch wheels. We took the side rail off of his bed. So many signs of growing up! He's in swim lessons again on Monday evenings now too. He's turning into a little man that we love so much. Happy birthday sweet boy!
Great job - I love all the little Lego details!!!
