Last weekend we traveled to Naperville, Illinois, to meet....our new niece! That's right, Jeff and Erica (Keith's brother and his wife) have found their sweetie and are now the proud parents of Macy Paige Okrzesik, born May 15, 2011! Needless to say we are all thrilled by Macy's arrival. She was born on a Sunday, they got the call on a Monday, and they brought her home on a Wednesday! What a whirlwind...luckily they had their nursery set up and ready to go and had most everything that they needed, at least to get few the first few weeks.
We traveled up last weekend because Saturday was a baby shower/open house in their honor so that friends and family could meet Macy and shower them with gifts. We took an extra day off and went up on a Thursday so that we could spend some quality, relaxed time with Baby Macy and her parents. She is just the BEST baby. I seriously didn't hear her really cry in the 3 nights we stayed with them. They say that she has her moments but I didn't personally witness them. She is just so laid back and content. She weighed over 8 pounds at birth and is already at 11 pounds so she is big and healthy. Everyone is just SO happy for this adoption and that everything worked out so wonderfully for Jeff and Erica. They are already awesome parents and have really easily and naturally slipped into their new roles.
Colin enjoyed meeting Macy and was gentle with her and tried to be helpful by bringing Erica bottles or burp cloths. And he enjoyed the shower very much. How could he not with hot dogs, Cheetohs, and cookies to eat and FIVE other cousins under the age of four to play with there?! Keith's cousins have little ones too and this was the first time that we met two of their little girls. It was just so fun to have all of the cousins together and to see them playing. One room of Uncle Joe's house was officially made into the daycare room!
It was a really fun and special visit. Thanks so much for letting us stay and we can't wait to see Baby Macy again soon!

Yay yay yay yay!!!!!! I am THRILLED to hear that Jeff and Erica have their little girl!!! What a LUCKY little one! Also, I love her name. :)
ReplyDeleteI am so happy to hear that your brother- and sister-in-law have their baby. She's precious, and how great for Colin to have another cousin. You all are so lucky, and Macy is lucky too!
