Happy Father's Day!

Hope all the dads out there had a great day yesterday! We had a really nice weekend. We had really nothing that we had to do which is the best kind of weekend sometimes. On Saturday evening we ventured out to Gahanna (another small town nearby) and went to a Blues & Jazz festival there. We met my coworker who lives there and his family and hung out in the kiddie rides area. Colin rode the carousel and the tea cups...his first rides ever! He enjoyed them and said, "tea party, gin!" which translates to "I want to ride the tea cups again!"

We enjoyed some good food and good music and enjoyed seeing Gahanna which we'd never been to before but we will definitely go back.

On Sunday I made Keith and Colin some banana chocolate-chip pancakes and then packed a picnic lunch before heading off to the zoo! We were excited to take Colin on the train there since he is currently completely fascinated with trains and Thomas the Train in particular. He loved it, especially the tunnel and waving to the people at the little train crossings. We also took a little boat ride there too and again the tunnels were the biggest hit.

I made Keith a special dinner of marinated portobello burgers with roasted peppers and red-pepper mayonnaise, grilled corn with lime and basil, and brownies a la mode (although I did make him do the grilling). I got him some new running shoes. Colin made him a rock paper weight that he painted to look like a face and it says "Dad, you rock" as well as a candy jar filled with Reece's peanut butter cups (he had a little help of course). It was a great weekend and we were exhausted by the end of it!

Colin's first ride on a carousel!

Daddy sharing his gyro with Colin...yum!

Colin and Daddy on the boat ride at the zoo, notice the shirt for Father's Day!

All aboard!

Colin was pretty wound up by the end of the day. This was the best portrait of the two of them that I could get!
