Wow, how can it already be June 1? I am glad that summer is here but really, where did the first 5 months of 2011 go? Every year our family has Celebration Day on Memorial Day weekend and this year was no exception. This year Colin was right in the thick of things, enjoying all of the action!
Meme and Pop Pop arrived on Friday afternoon and we taught Colin to say "Happy Birthday Meme!" since Friday was Meme's birthday. He pulled it off perfectly and always puts an enthusiastic "Yea!" at the end since that is what we said every time he said it successfully while we were teaching him. We went out for a nice dinner with them and had a little cake for Meme.
Saturday we hosted everyone over at our house for dinner. Luckily the rain went away and we had beautiful weather all weekend.
Sunday was actual Celebration Day and this year it was at my sister's house. The older boys were really into planning games so we did water balloon toss, ring toss, and a rousing game of "BEAR" which is like PIG or HORSE if you are more familiar with those. I think they had a lot more planned but somehow we just never got around to it between Jack's lacrosse game, eating, napping, and playing with Thomas the Train.
Monday morning we had everyone over for some very special donuts that Mom, Nancy and I drove to get at an Amish bakery several miles away. It was well worth the drive! Mom and Dad left and Colin took a long nap to recover from all of the excitement. We rallied that afternoon though to join Mike, Nancy, Jack and Eli at the pool for the opening weekend. It was HOT and crowded but everyone had a good time. Hello summer!
