'Tis the Season

It's definitely a new season around here. Winter has come in with a bang. All this week I don't think it has gotten above 25 degrees for a high! And every day has brought snow flurries although no real accumulation to speak of. But the cold weather is fitting for the Christmas season which is now upon us in full force. Last weekend we put up our Christmas tree. We decided to go artificial this year for the first time since we've moved to Ohio. It just seemed like a lot less work...no daily watering or needle pick-up. Plus my memory of being awoken last year at 6 AM to the sound of a huge crash hasn't faded yet...Keith was watering the tree and accidentally knocked the whole thing over. Water, needles, and broken shards of glass from the ornaments were everywhere! What a morning. So we opted for a less messy route! It looks good although it doesn't smell as nice. And it is very convenient that it came pre-lit. The interesting thing is that Colin seems almost scared of the tree! He gives it a wide berth. We were worried about putting it up in the living room thinking he would be all into it and pulling off the ornaments all the time. Quite the opposite! He seems to be going through a phase where he doesn't like plants. Very strange but it works out well for us in that he isn't bothering the tree.

O Christmas Tree!

Sunday we celebrated St. Nick's day (it was actually on Monday). That was fun. We started off with a French toast breakfast and then followed up with gifts from Keith's family. Colin got some cool stuff including great books like The Grinch and a Charlie Brown Christmas story. His favorite toys were some Chuck and Friends trucks and his stuffed dog Max (from The Grinch). Thanks to all! We are looking forward to a possible Santa-siting this coming weekend!

Ms. Krystal has a full month planned for Colin too. Every day involves some kind of Christmas craft project - from hand print wreaths, to twinkle stars, to making ornaments and gingerbread men. Colin is enjoying all of the excitement!

Hope your holiday seasons are off to a great start!

  1. Oh, I feel for you in the cold weather! It's 64 degrees here today, although cloudy. At least you have a beautiful white Christmas-y scene right outside! Nice tree, too!
