Gobble, Gobble!

We had a really nice Thanksgiving this year! I really like this holiday - no gifts, just food, friends and family. We left first thing Wednesday morning in the minivan bound for Indiana. We had a smooth trip and arrived just in time for an early lunch before going to visit my Grandpa (age 97) and his wife at their house. My Grandpa had been outside in the rain raking leaves right before we got there (he is amazing). We had a nice visit with them and Colin especially loved chasing their cats around!

We went to Keith's parent's house after that and eagerly awaited the arrival of Aunt Heather, Uncle Todd and Olivia. It was a fun reunion.

Happy reunion (for a moment)

We had planned to run Fast Freddie's Festive Five-Mile Foot Race again this year (an annual Okrzesik tradition) but the steady down pour kept us inside :(. That was the one low-point of the weekend, especially since I had been training for a couple of months. Still it was nice to just hang out all day inside and play and eat good food. Oh and plan our Black Friday shopping strategy! Colin ate a Thanksgiving dinner with all the fixings and we had a fun photo shoot with Colin and Olivia in their new reindeer pj's from Grandma. Colin also enjoyed playing with all of the cool toys at Grandma's including the Little People Thanksgiving set she bought. But honestly his favorite toy there was the green ball.

On Friday the ladies left the house at 6:30 AM for some holiday shopping. We didn't go crazy - we went to Kohl's, Macy's, Old Navy, Target and a fabric store before arriving home by 1:30. We got some great deals and really it wasn't all that bad out.

We went to visit some of Keith's friends on Friday afternoon (one of them has a little one Clara, 6 months) before heading over to Meme and Pop Pop's. Saturday was also relaxing. It involved a long walk, a bucket swing session, a visit from Uncle Bub and Aunt Jenny and a very nice dinner at The Overlook (situated right over the Ohio River).

Sunday morning we headed back and had another smooth road trip.We are so very thankful for our little family, our extended family, and all of our friends this holiday season.

  2. Colin really looks a lot like you in that last picture! Elizabeth and I were just talking the other day about how it seems like girls look like their dads and boys look more like their moms.

Anyway, sounds like a fun weekend. Olivia is adorable!
