Fun in the Windy City

We traveled to Chicago this weekend to visit Keith's family and to take in some sights of the city. We stayed right on Lake Michigan by Navy Pier and Michigan Avenue in a fancy high-rise apartment and condo building called Aqua. Our brother-in-law is an architect at the company that designed and built this building so we were able to stay in this awesome two-bedroom, fully-outfitted apartment in a prime location for next to nothing. Sweet!

It took us 8 hours to get there on Friday due to a little GPS mishap that required an impromptu trip to Best Buy for a replacement car charger and some construction traffic in Gary. Luckily Colin was a great sport the whole way there, despite only sleeping for about 35 minutes the whole time! I did break down and pull out a couple of short DVDs for him to watch when we were stuck in the standstill traffic jam. Thank goodness for that! We had some authentic deep dish Chicago-style pizza on Friday evening. YUM.

On Saturday we explored Navy Pier and enjoyed the beautiful sunny 70 degree weather. Colin's cousin Olivia who is 5 and a half months old was with us too. She is a doll and we all enjoyed getting to see her again. Her fiesty personality came out Friday night when she was grabbing for Colin. He seemed a little unsure what to make of this little firecracker!

Sunday the boys all went to a Bears game while the girls (and Colin) enjoyed lunch and shopping on Michigan Avenue. Colin was even a good sport and let us take him into the American Girl store! He liked the Disney Store better!

There was a park right by Aqua that Colin enjoyed playing in on Saturday and Sunday mornings too. He liked city living for a weekend!

City baby!

We drove back on Monday and made it in only seven hours. Colin slept a little more this time and we watched a short DVD near the end. All in all it was a very successful trip and we enjoyed getting to hang out with Keith's siblings and their families. Thanks for the great weekend everyone!
