Colin picks out books at the Main Library
Colin and the baby elephant at the Columbus zoo
Flamingos and Colin
My parents came up for a visit this weekend. They came on Friday afternoon so that they could meet Ms. Krystal and and give her a couple of hours off while they took care of Colin. They joined us for swim lessons on Saturday morning and loved watching all the babies in the pool. The instructors went around taking all the babies under water this time - they moved Colin through the water while he was under so it was much quicker than the quick dunks he had previously done with Keith. He didn't seem to mind it a bit though! How does a baby know how to hold his breath? Saturday evening my sister and her family came over for pizza and Colin loved checking out what his older cousins were up to. My family enjoyed seeing Colin's new tricks too. Speaking of new tricks, he is crawling on all fours some now and can go from all fours into a sitting position. It's so neat to see him make these accomplishments.
This boy is on the move!
Hey, what are you guys up to? I want to see!
But all this fun and good times couldn't last forever. Saturday night we were hit out of nowhere with a very cranky and wakeful little boy. He sounded very congested and was coughing so we figured he had caught his first cold. Sunday morning everyone was a little bit worse for wear. Colin's nose was running down his face. We decided to cancel our quiche breakfast with my sister given everyone's state. We had a quiet day with Colin and he seemed to feel not all that badly until later in the evening when he developed a mild fever (100.1). Sunday night was another rough one for us but luckily he seemed to feel much better by Monday afternoon. He is definitely on the mend now and the past two nights have been pretty normal for us. Phew! After going through Colin's first illness I've learned that Sick Baby + Exhausted Parents = Hell. I can't imagine what a more serious illness must be like! Unfortunately, I'm trying to catch his cold now but I'm drinking lots of hot tea which makes my throat feel very happy.
In other news, Colin loves "riding in a convertible." Not really but that's what we call it when I blow his hair off his forehead lightly. He blinks his eyes like crazy and acts all taken aback and then smiles. It might be the funniest thing ever.
There are so many parts of your entry that just make me smile. The zoo, Colin with his hand on his little friend's back, and "riding the convertible." I can imagine all those things. It sounds like you're all having so much fun and really loving the joys of having a cutie patootie like Colin.
ReplyDeleteJack Hanna is your zoo keeper- Wow! How lucky for Colin.
ReplyDeleteHope you get over the cold quickly- it's such a bummer when the babies/tots/kids get sick and then get you sick. Rest up.
Ah, welcome to life with sick babies. I completely sympathize, but I have to tell you that you've had it lucky so far. Poor Charlotte has had a cold every month. She has one right now! The snot, the snot! But the good news is that she's handling them better and better as she gets older. I'm sure Colin will too.
ReplyDeleteHope you all are feeling better soon.
