On the Road Again

We took our second road trip with Colin this past weekend. We headed out first thing Saturday morning to Grandma and Grandpa O's house. Colin did great on the way down. It only took us 3.5 hours to get there so we made very good time! He napped for about an hour of the trip and the rest of the time he was content to play with his toys. I fed him his rice cereal and we didn't need to stop at all.

We visited with our friends Anne and Mark on Saturday afternoon and met their new baby Leah. It was great to catch up with our old California friends who now live in the Midwest like us. We wished we could have stayed longer but were so glad we got to meet Leah and that they could meet Colin.

We ate pizza and hung out Saturday night. On Sunday Colin turned six months old and had a play date/half birthday party! Grandma O invited over two of her friends and their grandkids to meet Colin and have some birthday cake. It was a little hectic at times with lots going on but definitely fun and the cake was delicious. It had the same design on it as my shower cake - too cute!

We left Grandma and Grandpa O's after the play date and headed down to my parents' house. My brother came down to join us for dinner and unfortunately Colin was pretty spent after his party and his lack of a good afternoon nap so he wasn't in the best of moods on Sunday night. We put him to bed early and he was OUT! We enjoyed the good food and visiting with my brother though.

Monday Colin was in much better spirits and we enjoyed a low-key day with my parents. The weather was gorgeous all weekend and Monday we went for a nice long walk in the sunshine and 65 degree temperatures. How refreshing! We headed back to Columbus after a good breakfast on Tuesday. Colin's teeth were bothering him for portions of the trip and it seemed to come to a head Monday night. The last hour or so of the ride home he was pretty antsy...either due to teeth pain or restlessness or a combination of the two but we made it! He napped great on the trip and he had one great night, one OK night, and one bad night sleepwise. What can you do? All in all it was a great trip and everyone enjoyed seeing Colin. He traveled well for the most part and we're looking forward to our trip to Chicago next month for Heather and Peanut's baby shower!
