Full Term!

Yesterday I completed my 37th week so I am now considered full-term! Hooray, it feels really good to have made it this far and not have to worry about having a premature baby. This is definitely a milestone that I wanted to see.

I had my weekly doctor's appointment today and got some exciting news. I am already 2 cm dialated and 50% effaced. The midwife's reaction was very positive. She said that is really good for it being my first baby. I asked her what it really meant...does it mean Colin is coming tomorrow? Next week? Of course there is no way to say for sure but she said that she expects he will be either early or on time, probably not late. I hope that she's right!! As Keith put it, "You're already 20% there and haven't had a single labor pain." I like that outlook!

Everything else was right on track with this doctor's visit. Heartbeat still 150. I found out that I'm negative for a Group Strep B test that I had to take last week so that means I won't have to get antibiotics through an IV during my labor and delivery. That's a big relief!

So it's a very exciting time. It definitely feels like we're in the home stretch!

  1. Woo hoo!! I was 2 cm. for at least 3 weeks, but to be 50 % effaced too- that sounds good to me!! I will keep my fingers crossed for just a little early so that Colin is good and ready and you are pleasantly surprised!! :)

  2. Of course I was 1-2 cm and about 70-80% effaced and we know what happened there! Charlotte was just happy to stick inside until I decided to get her out. But it's definitely progress, so I'm hoping your experience will be early rather than late!
