I had my 32 week doctor's visit yesterday and it turned out more exciting than I thought it would going in. I went to a different office this time so that I could meet one of the midwives in the practice that doesn't come to the Dublin office. Since I could be delivered by any of the midwives depending on who is on call, I want to make sure I've at least met them all. This office is in Columbus and is very nice - big, new, and modern. The midwife's name is Liza and she had a student with her that day although I can't remember her name.
Sweet Pea was very active during this visit! First he kicked the nurse's doppler as she was trying to listen to his heartbeat. Next Liza asked me if I had felt any hiccups yet and I told her that yes, we just felt them for the first time over the weekend. She then started feeling my belly and said that he had the hiccups right then! Liza asked her student if she had ever felt hiccups before and she had not so she felt too. Liza told me that a stressed baby does not hiccup so judging from how often Sweet Pea hiccups, he must think his Mama's belly is Club Med (he had them again last night after I got home too). They both tried to tell if Sweet Pea is head down or not but neither of them could tell just by feeling. So they decided to do an ultrasound just to see. Unfortunately Keith wasn't with me because we didn't expect any more ultrasounds the rest of the pregnancy and this was supposed to be just a routine visit. They moved me into the ultrasound room and saw that yes in fact he IS head down! So that is good as they said it is unlikely that he will move again before it's time to delivery. We all got a kick out of watching him hiccup on the ultrasound and he was very active - moving all around and sucking on his arm. Unfortunately the ultrasound photos didn't turn out all that well...there is one that shows his face with his foot up next to it but it is pretty tough to decipher. But all in all it was a very nice, unexpected surprise!
I got a kick-count sheet and I have to start counting kicks now. I am supposed to count at the same time every day (about an hour after dinner) and I can stop when I get six movements in an hour. If I don't get six (and I've had some orange juice to try and stimulate Sweet Pea) , then we know something could be wrong and to call the doctor.
I forgot to ask about my weight gain but according to our home scale I'm right at 20 pounds so I think that's good!
Here is my 32 week belly photo. Only two more of these before Sweet Pea comes!

You look great! How exciting to get an ultrasound so late in the game - we never had another one after 20 weeks. And the hiccups don't end inside the womb, either. :) Charlotte has them at least once a day (she had them a TON before she was born). Glad to hear your Sweet Pea is thriving and happy. Only 8 weeks to go (and Charlotte is 4 weeks today - crazy!!) :)
