10 Month Twins

Only two months away from their first birthday?  How can this be?  I am getting a little sad seeing all of this baby stuff that they are outgrowing that we'll never use again.  We no longer feed them in their Boppy Pillows at night because they're too mobile to just lay still in them and drink their bottles.  We no longer use their swings at all because they're so mobile we'll afraid they might escape them somehow. No more baby bathtubs, they bathe in the big tub now with Colin.  We bathe a different sister every other night.  Bathing all three of them at once is just more than we can handle!

Caroline is now pulling up in her crib and I call them little beavers because they are both gnawing a lot at the ends of the cribs.  The sides have plastic protectors but the ends do not.  At least no one else will need to use these cribs!

Both girls now have six teeth!  And they're using them on more and more table food like mac & cheese, peas, corn, carrots (all cooked, not smashed), biscuits, cheese, fruits, you name it.  Julia loves to feed herself and would prefer to do that 100% of the time.  She gets antsy when we spoon feed her because she wants to be in control.  We prefer to spoon feed most foods because it cuts down on the mess.

It's interesting how they differ in their abilities and mannerisms.  Julia was the first to pull up in her crib and the first to start cruising (which she started doing a little of this month).  However she can't tackle the two stairs in their room yet and Caroline goes right up them with ease.  Caroline started clapping her hands this month and Julia has yet to do that.  Caroline growls, tilts her head to the side in a flirtatious way (see pic below), and wrinkles up her nose.  Julia talks more.  She also likes to do what I call "Julia Acrobatics" in her crib which is where she just flops all around and laughs.

They are both REALLY good babies though.  The norovirus came through our house this week.  Colin got in last Sunday night and was sick until about Thursday.  He had quite a bad case of it complete with fever.  Keith came down with it Friday night but not nearly as badly.  He is already feeling a lot better and it's Sunday evening.  Fingers crossed the girls and I have not had it yet.  This waiting for the other shoe to drop though is killing us.  Our hands are raw from so much washing and we need to buy stock in Lysol.  But anyway, the girls have been contained in their play cage most of the time this whole week because we've been trying to separate Colin and his germs from them.  They have been remarkably content to just sit in their and play with their toys and each other.  I think that helps!

  1. They are so cute dressed in green for St. Patrick's Day. Such great smiles! Can't wait to see them and have Colin for a sleepover!

  2. They are just SO cute! How is it possible they're 10 months old already?! I love their little St. Paddy's day outfits - great color on them. I hope you and the girls steer clear of the norovirus - it is just SO awful, although I can confidently say it's much worse on the adults than on the children.

And we hope to meet them someday - maybe you can visit your family in Chicago while we're there? That would be awesome.

    Take care, cuties!

  3. Miss Caroline's head tilt is just too cute!! I can't believe that they're in the homestretch towards being ONE!

Hope you all are feeling better by now.
