That's My Funday

On Sunday we decided to have a Funday. The winter weekends can be kind of drudge and dreary if we don't have something going on.  We got all of our weekend chores and errands done on Saturday  (grocery shopping, laundry, twin bathing) so we had nothing to do on Sunday except have fun!  We made "funfetti" pancakes for breakfast which are just pancakes with chocolate sprinkles mixed in.  Then we made a big fort in the living room and we all ate lunch in it!  We had apple slices and cheese quesadillas...nothing too messy.

Everyone in the fort!

After lunch we made a Chex Mix recipe using chocolate Chex, M&M's, pretzels and marshmallow creme.  There was a small crisis when Colin spilled about half the bowl of it after it was done but we probably didn't really need that much of it anyway.  It was GOOD!  We rented Kung Fu Panda and watched it while eating our Chex Mix.  The girls were taking a nap during part of it so that helped allowed us parents to enjoy it a little more.  And bad parents we are because we didn't realize that it was rated PG and not G until they started saying "suck" a couple of times.  Really?  There was a lot of fighting and a couple of scary characters so we thought Colin would be freaked out (he usually is by that sort of thing).  But alas, he said he liked the scary parts.  Go figure!

For dinner we had grand plans to make mini pizzas.  We planned on using cookie cutters to cut out refrigerated dough into fun shapes.  We let Colin choose whatever shapes he wanted and he chose some that were on the small side so the pizzas got a little bit too crispy and really left a mess on the pan.  But they were edible and he liked them so I suppose it was a success.

Today in the car with Keith the song "Manic Monday" came on the radio.  Colin said, "Dad, they said Funday!"

Just another Manic Monday.
I wish it were Sunday.
'Cause that's my fun day.
My I don't have to run day.
Just another Manic Monday.

Such a smarty pants!  And it was a fun day.
