Mom and Dad came up and stayed with us on Friday. We made some Christmas cookies for the next day's celebration and just enjoyed some quiet hang-out time.
On Saturday Uncle Mike, Aunt Nancy, Jack and Eli came over and we enjoyed a very fun day of eating, playing in the snow, opening gifts, and playing some holiday games (a new component to our usual celebration). Given the onset of children, our family has given up its Christmas wine tasting tradition and is in search of some new traditions that are more kid-friendly. This year we tried the games and they seemed to be a hit. It was a very nice day and it even snowed a couple of inches making it even more special.
That night Mom and Dad watched The Christmas Story for the first time ever (hard to believe, right?) although I was too tired to stay up and watch the whole thing with them. I came down with a pretty bad sore throat the next day and Julia and Caroline's colds also seemed to be peaking so we had to miss the day-after-Mason-Christmas breakfast at Mike and Nancy's. We had a make-up date for that this morning though. Luckily both of our families are finally totally healthy, at least this week!
