8 Months Old!

Caroline

We got a lot of sweet pictures this month!  The girls are at a very fun and sweet age.  They smile, laugh, coo, make funny faces and sounds and love to be in the middle of everything.  They love chasing after Colin's trucks and knocking down his block towers.  Wherever he is playing, they want to be too!  Luckily he is pretty patient with them although we do have a row on his latest behavior chart for "Be Nice to the Sissies!"

Caroline is up to four teeth now (and has been for quite some time) and Julia's third tooth just popped in a couple of days ago.

The girls are eating more table food these days like tiny pieces of pancake, banana, sweet potato, kiwi, cottage cheese, yogurt, and pears.  Caroline seems like she is going to be our picky eater of our three children.  The faces she made while eating kiwi were so priceless I had to video them.  Neither of the girls liked cottage cheese that much but other than that Julia seems to love everything.  They're still eating a lot of jarred food and we're branching out into different flavors and textures of those too.

The girls can definitely get around (Julia is especially fast) but they still aren't really crawling with their bellies off the ground although very recently Caroline has started to take two or three consecutive crawl steps before flopping back down again on her belly.

So far the new year is off to a pretty good start for us.  Colin has started swimming lessons and his second half of preschool has started up again.  Although he was up from 2 AM until 8 AM Friday night vomiting.  After that he seemed pretty normal except for a couple of cases of loose stools.  It seemed like a relatively mild case of the stomach flu.  But we are just hoping beyond hope that the girls don't get it.  How awful!

We are doing some new year type tasks like organizing, donating, trashing, etc.  We sold our couch on Craig's List and bought a new smaller couch to replace it with.  We just needed more floor space because we spend all of our time playing on the floor these days! And now we can see into the living room and see the floor where the kids play while we cook or wash dishes because the couch doesn't block the view.  I'll put up some before and after pics once our new one actually gets delivered.

I also just bought a new car (a used silver 2009 Camry) because we needed something with a bigger back seat.  The Subaru had a surprisingly small backseat (at least our 2005 one did).  We wanted something that we could squeeze all three kids in if it was ever necessary.  We are going to purchase these Radian car seats for the girls that are very slim.  I think with those and especially once Colin is in a booster seat we can make it work. Technically he is tall enough and weighs enough (barely) to be in a booster seat now but they also say you have to be 4 years old (at least I think so).  So we'll wait.  I like my new car!  We're selling the Subaru to my brother-in-law so that was easy.  We're glad it's still going to be in the family as it has been a great car.

Now we're looking forward to Keith's birthday in a couple of weeks!  His parents are coming to stay with us and we'll get to have a nice dinner out!

  1. Oh they are just so cute! I can't believe they're already 8 months old. Love the video. :)

We got a brand-new Camry back in September to replace my 9 year old Hyundai. I love it. It's big enough to put both car seats in, plus another person. It's amazing how small the Forester is in the back, even the bigger 2009 one.

You'll have to tell me a little more about your responsibility chart for Colin and what you do with it. Charlotte is driving us up the walls these days with her stubbornness and her refusal to listen. Uggh!

  2. Haha--what a great game there, Colin! Too cute.

Did you have a good experience selling your couch? I was nervous selling our dining table, but it ended up being great. Except that now we are using a folding table and chairs and Lewis is still climbing and pushing them around (since they're so lightweight).

Hard to believe your girls are 8 months--they are so smiley and cute! Lewis turns 2 next month--crazy. Hope all is well with you guys!

  3. Oh, Maggie. They are soo freaking cute! I love these pictures. It really shows their personalities. Such sweetness.

I want to reiterate what Stephanie said about the chart. Please share.

I can't believe your girls have teeth already. I remember Amélie not having any teeth at 8 months, but Sebastian has been displaying some serious teething signs. It's making for some very challenging afternoons.

Oh, sick babies is the worst. Vomiting gives me the heebe jeebez. We were recently out at Target when Amélie threw up all over the stroller and the aisle. I think it was a stomach flu too. I survived the puking.

I love cleaning and organizing the house. Doesn't it make you feel good?
