Halloween could not have been a yuckier day weather-wise as we felt the distant effects of Hurricane Sandy. However, Keith and Colin braved the cold, misting weather and persevered for a full hour making it to most of the homes on our street. Colin was trying to keep up with some of his 6 and 8 year old friends who understand the concept of trick-or-treating a little bit better than he does. He got a lot of candy and was only a little frightened by some Dads wearing scary masks. I stayed inside where it was warm with Julia and Caroline to pass out the candy.
I have to brag on Keith for a minute. He made this awesome skeleton costume for Colin using his black sweatsuit that was his cat costume last year (score for reuse!), freezer paper, and white fabric paint. First he drew the bones on the freezer paper. Then he cut them out and ironed them on to make a stencil. Next he filled it in with the white paint (Colin helped a little). It turned out really well and took quite a bit of time.
The girls were ducks and couldn't have been cuter. I found their costumes last year on Black Friday at The Children's Place. I paid less than $3.50 for them BOTH. We didn't even know boys or girls at that point but figured ducks could go either way.
Colin also had a Halloween parade and party at preschool. Keith and the girls attended the parade and I left work a little early to attend the party. It was a fun day!

I had left a comment on your previous post about Colin's costume when you mentioned that Keith made it, but I don't think it came up. Keith is amazing! Eric said he's a super dad! :) That must have taken him a long time to make! I also did the freezer stencil thing to make Sebastian's costume, but his wasn't nearly as big or as complicated as Colin's. Go Keith!
ReplyDeleteThe girls of course look super adorable in their costumes! I love that picture of them in the bouncers. All you can see are those little eyes peering over their costumes. Too cute!
I keep seeing things made with freezer paper on Pinterest, but I have no idea how it works/what it even is! I'll have to check it out b/c Colin's costume looks great!
ReplyDeleteWow. Great job, Keith! He IS Super Dad. ;) Glad you guys had a good Halloween. Love those cute little duckies.
