Celebration Day 2012

My family celebrated our annual "Celebration Day" a few months late this past weekend.  Normally we hold it on Memorial Day weekend every year.  It is a long-held tradition of celebrating my Dad's birthday (May 20), my Mom's birthday (May 27), Mother's Day and Father's Day all rolled into one.  But this year with the girls being born on May 17, we decided to move it to September and Labor Day weekend.  We decided this before they were even born thinking things might be too hectic for our family to really attend and enjoy.  Looking back, the girls were so chill at that time (sleeping anywhere and everywhere) that we totally could have done it but this way was fine too!

We had a great time.  We hosted my parents and sister's family on Saturday night at our house for a (take-out) pasta dinner.  On Sunday we all gathered at my sister's house and my brother and Jenny joined us too.  We played a lot of cards (we resurrected a card game called Peanuts that we used to play a lot of years ago), my nephews shot bee-bee guns that used to belong to my Grandpa (high excitement for them) while Colin shot one of their Nerf guns, we ate a lot of good food and celebrated Colin's birthday with my parents and brother who won't be here this coming weekend for his party.  It was fun seeing everyone and I was exhausted by the end of the day!

It was really nice having my parents stay with us too.  They hadn't been to our house since they watched Colin while we were in the hospital!
