This will definitely be my last twin pregnancy picture. I am 36 weeks and 1 day now and our scheduled induction is next Thursday, May 17th! We are being induced because of the risks involved with mono/di twins who share a placenta going longer than 37 weeks. The risks are low but very scary and severe so our perinatologists don't recommend going beyond 37 weeks. Usually it isn't really an issue because twins tend to come early on their own and we certainly thought that we would be in that boat too three weeks ago when I was put on bed rest because I was already 3 cm dilated and 70% effaced. But apparently even with all of the contractions that I have I have managed to not progress any further than that which is awesome.
I must admit though, if I was having fraternal twins with separate placentas and I was expected to hang on until June 5th (my actual due date), I'm not sure I could do it. I am so huge and it is getting quite hard to get comfortable on the couch. I am worn out after taking my shower and getting ready and need to sit down for awhile. I am definitely happy about not having to go beyond May 17th.
36 weeks pregnant with Colin
36 weeks pregnant with the Jelly Beans
Yesterday I had my 36 week ob/gyn check-up and I happened to be put in the ultrasound room because the other rooms were full. I had a suspicion that Baby B had turned again and was now head-down and my doctor said we'd just do a quick ultrasound to see. I was right! She has turned again so now they are both head-down. Now let's just hope she stays that way until next Thursday. My doctor also said I didn't really need to be on bed rest any more since I have made it this far. So I'm increasing my activity level a bit but it's not like I can really do that much anyway. I am quite sore (like I've been riding a horse) as my bones and ligaments stretch in preparation for birth. I also have these fun night sweats now and in the past couple of weeks I've noticed stretch marks on my belly. I made it so far without them, it's kind of a bummer that they just cropped up. I've gained about 38 lbs. So I'm pretty sure this will be the last pregnancy post....next post will be once we are a family of five!!
You look so great - you're definitely all belly. It's so awesome that you've made it this far. I am so excited for May 17th (or earlier) and to see these adorable twin girls of yours. Also, it's great that Baby B is head down - it would be so great to have both vaginally.
ReplyDeleteAnd I'm jealous of your 38 pounds for twins - I gained 10 more than that with my singleton and I'm still working on 15 more pounds to lose(I guess my body just gains a lot of weight when I'm pregnant).
The night sweats started for me after Phoebe was born. The first few weeks postpartum, I would wake up in the middle of the night completely drenched. It was awful!
Anyway, good luck next week. I can't wait to meet the girls!
You look terrific. I'm sorry to hear the pregnancy is wearing on you so, but the end is near! You're such a trooper! Hope you enjoy your last weekend (and week)--excited to see your sweet girls. :)
ReplyDeleteAnd hooray to Baby B for making yet another turn--surely it's getting too cramped in there for her to turn again!
Best of luck and health and happiness through labor and delivery!! So excited for you guys!
SOOOOOOO exciting!!! What a very special Mother's Day weekend for you and your family. We can't wait to hear the good news THIS WEEK!!! Thinking of you and sending love and hugs!
