Before and After

Keith did a lot of great work around our yard this summer and I wanted to give him a proper shout-out!

It all started with our blah landscaping in the beds in front of our house. In previous years we had done some improvements but landscaping design is just NOT our forte. We decided to hire a professional to give us some ideas. We were very happy with the outcome of that. For a nominal fee ($75) a landscape designer from a local nursery came to our home, spent quality time with us asking us about what we had in mind and drew up a to-scale plan for us as well as detailed estimate for having the work done. After a lot of back and forth, we scaled back the plan a little bit and decided to do the work ourselves. So Keith spent a couple of back-breaking weekends planting and mulching and the results were really nice! It looks a lot more pulled together now.

Before - just a few sad little shrubs:

After - we added 14 hostas, 5 grasses of 2 different varieties, some potted annuals, and some stepping stones by our hose/faucet.

With the money that we saved by doing the work ourselves, we decided to have our deck stained which after three years since its last staining, was desparately in need of a face lift. Check out the before:

And the After!

Finally, our playset that was in our backyard when we moved in was also in desparate need of a makeover.

We had that stained as well. Then Keith added a new canopy and some safety bars at the top of the ladder. We got rid of the sandbox that didn't fare well through the winter (i.e. it was bug infested). It looks like new!

Thanks Keith for your hard work. It's been really nice to enjoy our outside spaces this summer!

  1. Wow! It all looks wonderful! Looks very professional AND low maintenance (my preference!). Very well done!

I'm having trouble keeping up with our yard this summer, but maybe next year I'll rein it in again. :) And we should probably think about staining or sealing our fence at some point, too...it's neverending! :)
