Somehow the days have gotten away from me and I haven't yet written about Thanksgiving 2016. It was a wonderful break. I love the relaxed pace of Thanksgiving and the kickoff of the holiday season. I got to take the full week off this year which was a little touch-and-go for awhile on my project. But in the end we met our goals and everyone got the whole week off. On Friday evening it was warm and balmy and we had one final fire and s'mores in the fire pit. Then on Saturday it turned cold and SNOWED (just flurries) which was a good thing because we were putting up our Christmas decorations that day and it felt more festive to do it on a cold, snowy day, especially since we were putting them up before Thanksgiving!

On Sunday I ran in a Hot Chocolate 15K with some coworkers/members of my running group. It was freezing cold but the hot chocolate and other chocolate goodies at the end helped make up for it.
On Monday Keith and I got to do a little Christmas shopping and lunch while the kids were in school. I love shopping for kids' toys! We really enjoyed ourselves and even found a few good pre-Black Friday deals.
On Tuesday I volunteered at the girls' classroom Thanksgiving party. They had a full feast complete with turkey, mashed potatoes, dressing, green beans, cranberries and desserts! It was nice to be able to spend some time with their class.

Wednesday we left for Indiana and headed to Keith's parents' house. We were the only ones to make the trip to their house this year.
Keith and I ran Fast Freddie's race on Thanksgiving morning - a five mile Thanksgiving run not too far from his parents' house. In the past we've taken the kids with us a couple of times (there is also a short walk that you can do) but this time we left them at home with Grandma and Grandpa. I had my fastest race ever and ran the course in just under 40 minutes! On Thanksgiving day we relaxed and played games (I taught Colin how to play Double Solitaire) and of course ate a yummy feast. I brought the dressing and a Derby pie and Grandma and Grandpa made the rest. Diane and I ventured out after the kids were in bed on Thursday to Kohl's and Target to look for some deals. Kohl's was crazy crowded but Target was pretty normal and we did score a couple of bargains (and more online that day too).

On Friday we left for Meme and Pop Pop's. We had a great visit with them and Uncle Bub and Aunt Jenny on Saturday. We hiked, made Christmas crafts, ate great food, and just enjoyed each other's company. The girls really enjoyed helping Meme in the kitchen!

I really enjoy our Thanksgiving traditions and being able to spend time with our family. It's what I'm thankful for. :)
