Five Months

Another month has passed and the girls are now five months old.  The big accomplishment this month was rolling over from back to tummy, first Julia and then five days later Caroline.  Now they do it with ease, connecting rolls to move a little bit from place to place.  Caroline is especially adept at the continuous roll.  She can sort of scoot herself along a little bit too.  She remains quite a bit smaller than Julia and seems a little more spry, maybe due to weighing less?

They are drinking five bottles a day these days (six ounces of formula in each bottle) except for when they sleep all night and then they have only four.  They sleep all night maybe 2 or 3 nights a week it seems.  We wish we knew what made it happen!

They are definitely grasping for objects and trying to get them in their mouths but they are far from proficient at this.  It seems like Colin was already doing this with ease by five months but I can't remember for sure.  I have to remember that while full-term, they were born three weeks prior to the 40 week mark and they were teeny!  So they may hit their milestones a little bit later.  Colin also rolled over in his fourth month from back to belly.

We haven't started them on any solids yet but think we'll probably try a little rice cereal in another week or so when we get back from our trip to Michigan next weekend to visit some of our friends.

Julia is five months old!

Caroline is too!

Sporting sweet smiles and Halloween onesies
It has been a fun month.  We love our nightly walks in the cool fall air with Colin on his balance bike and the girls in the Bjorns with their snuggly hoodies on, falling asleep on our chests!

  1. They are SO cute. I love those little track suits. And I love the idea of taking nightly walks. We should start doing that! It's probably the only way to get Charlotte better at riding a bike.
