Christmas 2011

We had a wonderful Christmas this year. We didn't travel which made it seem so much more relaxing. We hosted all of the Masons at our house on Christmas Eve. We did our usual - eating, a gag gift exchange, and exchanging regular gifts. Every year we say we aren't going to do gifts (only for the kids) but every year we seem to not abide by that rule! Colin was super excited about the day and to be a part of the all the fun. And it must have been a lot of excitement for him because he took a super long nap! We ended the day for Colin by leaving out milk, cookies, and a letter for Santa and my sister read him The Night Before Christmas.

Mom, Dad, Chris, and Jenny spent the night with us so they were here on Christmas morning when Colin opened his presents from Santa. That was definitely a lot of fun. Santa left Colin his big present in the basement - a new Cars scooter! We all had a big French toast breakfast to end the morning. After that our guests left and we were on our own to enjoy the rest of the day. It was warm enough to take Colin's scooter outside (it has been a very warm Ohio winter so far with no snow to speak of). Although we were pretty chilly afterwards and came in for some hot cocoa by the fire. Colin liked the idea of hot cocoa more than the actual drink itself. We ate leftovers for dinner and then settled in with some popcorn to watch Colin's new Cars 2 movie. He watched the whole thing and only got a little bit distracted with toys in a couple of spots. It was a great Christmas.

Keith and I both have this entire week off from work which has been blissful. Keith is in the midst of a big project in our bonus room which will become the twins' nursery. That room is over the garage and has two entrances. One is a normal door from the upstairs and the other is a back stairway leading up from the garage door area. That back stairway has no door so he is putting in a door. It involves some electrical work (he had to move a lightswitch), building a door frame, adding some drywall, and lots of staining and varnishing wood trim and two wood doors. He is also replacing the closet door in that room because when we moved in it had a sizeable crack in it. So he has been very busy!

Colin stayed home with us on Monday and Tuesday and is going to Miss Ashley's Wednesday - Friday. That has given me some time to do stuff too. Yesterday I did returns at the mall and then shopped for a big boy bed for Colin. Today I'll be cleaning out the dresser in the bonus room and getting it ready for baby girl clothes! Colin and I went to the Columbus Main Library on Tuesday to check out some books and to see the massive holiday train display that they have set up there. I couldn't pull him away...especially once he saw that Thomas and James were two of the engines running in the display! He loved it.

Hope you had a wonderful Christmas too! Happy New Year!
