It is very hard for me to believe that Colin has been at Miss Ashley's for four weeks already! I am happy to report that things are going very well. The first week was definitely a little rough. He cried the first two mornings that I dropped him off and in the evenings he was pretty cranky and whiny. After that first week though things seemed to calm down and now he genuinely seems to enjoy and look forward to going. He is never clingy at drop off (I do the drop offs and Keith does the pick ups). In fact I often have to work at getting my goodbye hug and kiss.
He likes his friends there - Ashley's daughter (age 3) and two sisters (ages 1 and 3) and talks about them all the time. They spend a lot of time outside going on walks, playing in her yard, going to the park, and feeding the ducks. Ashley's daughter has a pink battery-powered Escalade that Colin loves riding shotgun in. They do fun things in the kitchen like make muffins, cookies, and pancakes. On cookie making day Colin had a bag to bring home so we reaped the benefits there too! He has been napping well (usually about 1 hour and 45 minutes). Ashley sends a note home with him each day that tells us what he ate, how he slept, his diaper details, and what they did that day. They do basic art projects, read books, work on flash cards, and play in the play room with the many, many toys.
Colin is starting to tell little stories now which is so cute to watch. His thoughts are obviously coming much faster than his words. But he tells us stories about what they do there or what they say. It is quite comical.
All in all it seems to be working out very well and we are pleased with her care and his transition! Hopefully he will be just as happy there this winter when they are more cooped up although knowing her, she will get them out in the snow!
