Colin's new lady bug and lady bug burp cloth from Meme and Pop Pop
Colin and his baseball cap, Cubs stuffed baseball, Cubs blanket and Grandma even made Cubs clothes for Teddy!
My two boys doing some good cuddling over the weekend - I love this pic!
But things haven't been all rosy around here. Colin has had a bit of a rough time sleeping the past few weeks. At first we thought the problem was due to the swaddle-blanket weaning. Then I noticed that he has been awfully gassy since he's been on solid foods and that many of his night wakings seemed to involve gassy episodes. We talked it over with a nurse at our pediatrician's office and decided to switch him back to just rice cereal until he's six months old and hold off on the other foods for now. He seems to be doing better with this plan. And then on top of these two issues, he's started to show signs of teething! He is drooling, gnawing and biting on anything he can get his hands on, tugging at his ears, waking up frequently and wanting to nurse a lot. The pain he feels seems to come and go as he has good days and bad days and good nights and bad nights. We've tried Orajel and some homeopathic tablets but Infant's Motrin seems like the only thing that brings him much relief (at least at night). During the day we also give him cold teething rings and frozen wash cloths. There are no visible signs of teeth yet but we've heard that can take quite awhile. His Daddy got his first tooth at 5.5 months so we're definitely on the lookout. Until then, we're just hoping for more good days than bad ones and that he's not in too much discomfort!
Infant Motrin (or generic infant ibuprofen) worked best for Jimmy too. It lasts longer than Tylenol and seems to give more relief.
ReplyDeletePoor Colin. I wish I had some words of wisdom that might help, but you're the experts to me. He looks very happy in the pictures and that is definitely an adorable picture of the daddy and his boy. I love that the teddy got an outfit too.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE the pic of Colin and Keith!! SOOOOO sweet!! I've recently been told that infant Motrin does a better job with the swelling and pain than Tylenol..so you are another vote for that plan!!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear you have a food plan that seems to be working!! Poor all of you!! I had been meaning to tell you that a favorite "teething" help is frozen waffles... but you can wait until he is back on food. I would take a hard, frozen waffle out of the freezer and Lindsey would LOVE gnawing on it!!!
Ooh, I like Erin's frozen waffle idea. I love those pictures of Colin, especially the lady bug one (he's saying, oooh, gimme that!).
ReplyDeleteSleeping is such a challenge. Why does it change from one day to the next? I wish I had more to say about teething because Charlotte's taking her sweet time!
